Actually, it’s not the defeat she’s wailing about. It’s the fact that now she’s as helpless as a newborn babe. That would be undignified to anyone, ESPECIALLY someone with a long history of torture and brutality against others.

I can see a few possible interpretations on this.
One possibility is that it’s merely the pain talking. That seems unlikely though, given Belahms usual discipline.
Another possibility is that it’s the arms and legs thing. How can she live out her awesome skills without them? I find it hard to believe that those wounds arn’t reversible though. Even if she doesn’t have the means herself, it should be possible to aquire someone else’s services, and given her curious nature I think she knows who to ask. Unless…
It could be that her reputation is now irrepparably damaged. This could make it much harder for her to get favors from her usual associates, and it might just lead to more mockery than she cares to endure. It wouldn’t be JUST her arrogance talking here, since those favors she’d miss out on may be rather important to her work.
She could be above all that though, and this is what I believe. It may simply be that she realised that her current form is inadequate. She knows that she has already peaked it out, she won’t get much stronger than this in troll-form, yet the lady could defeat her so markedly. If she is to ever reach the lady’s level, which of course she has to, she must transform to something other than a troll – that is she must die. It’s just the only practical solution.

Oh right, in order to aquire someone’s help she’d have to trust that someone. Didn’t think of that.
Oh the luxuries I apparantly take for granted.

As much as you can, and usually have to read into things with this comic, I personaly think that this time, it’s just as simple as a defeated warrior; one with a very twisted sence of humor, but that’s just a troll for you.
Sometimes it’s just better not to over think too many things.

The only time that one can over think too many things is when this thinking prevents action when action is called for.

I also wouldn’t be so sure that the Lady HAS to release her. This wouldn’t be the first time she’s left somebody behind IN PIECES. Maybe she only releases INTACT souls?

uhl: Jason is a special case, I think. For one thing, she’d already killed him once. For another, I don’t think he really wanted to die again.
As for Belahm here… What the Lady did to her was not a simple defeat. No, for a proud warrior like her, this is far worse than having simply killed her; the Lady cut her down to size, in more ways than one. That hurts her, deeply, and it makes her feel worthless — makes her feel like all her training, all her discipline, all her countless years of experience matter for nothing. For someone who built her entire sense of self-worth on that one thing, being humiliated in such a devastating fashion is crushing to her entire personality. Whether she could recover, I don’t know, but I do believe that at the moment she truly wants to die.
