Well, she said before she wouldn’t fight that troll for anyone’s sake. I guess she knows that’s the same person Rona was talking about.

somehow, the Lady’s eye’s/face don’t look as fierce and determined as usual. or am I seeing something that I want to see, not something that is there?

if she really didn’t care about fighting that troll and getting revenge, she wouldn’t keep saying it. She wants to take her down.

But she probably views that desire itself as a chain to break free from.

The Lady looks rather more human here than she usually does, agreed.

Personally, I think the Lady is afraid it would make her look petty if she were to descend on Belahm in a fury. She considers such things beneath her, and she really has no need to prove to herself or anyone else that she’s the better of the two. (That’s my guess about her thought process, anyway, that she thinks one who seeks revenge is a slave to their own insecurities.)

Nonetheless, it seems fairly obvious that she hates Belahm. I’m guessing, though, that she wants nothing more than to stop thinking about the troll and spend some time with her Nemsiiki scrolls.

But perhaps that’s a twinge of doubt on her face… perhaps she’s thinking to herself that she’s gotten so wrapped up in *not* getting revenge that it’s as limiting as if she were to seek it. Perhaps she wants to help those hobbits, and is troubled that she can’t let herself. Quite a distressing paradox, when you imprison your mind in the name of freedom.

Or this could just be the Lady looking mysterious. I dunno.

Motives always were tricky things. The problem here, though, is that Belahm is going to keep being a thorn in people’s sides until she’s dealt with once and for all. Taking her down wouldn’t be revenge. It’d be ending a recurring problem. Leaving her alone allows her all the time in the world to prepare, then come back when your pants are down. (Who here honestly thinks Belahm isn’t going to go after any of our crew again?)

When this angle of the problem is considered, leaving her to roam free is just plain dumb. MY big question right now, though, is this: What’s gonna happen when Rona tries to get back to herself? It’s rather crowded in there right now.

I don’t know if Belahm would go after them again, unless her orders regarding Whisper require it. In that case, then yes, she’s going to have to be dealt with.

Personally, I think the whole “Bellham is not worth my notice” attitude is just an act. The Lady may well want to end Bellham but can see no clear way to do so, much like with the man who became possessed by dinosaurs and sabertooth tigers. She can see no way to win without paying a horrendous cost and then being dragged into an endless blood feud. The lady is NOT about combat (though she’s VERY good about it.) She’s about “freedom of the mind.” Which CAN mean many things.
