How do we know the “she” doesn’t refer to the saber? Then again, I suppose we don’t even know if the saber and the Lady ARE different entities.
As for who the lady is,mwhether she’s actually evil, here’s my opinion:
Of course she’s the monster you thought. She’s also equally benevolent, however. Shouldn’t that have been made evident by the wings? She is both sides of the same coin. Most humans have “good” and “evil” inside of them, she simply has them in extraodinary amounts, and an equal amount of each.
Just started reading yesterday; excellent strory so far. Very in depth, with a spiritual/psychological spin that I enjoy. Where do you find your inspiration for this stuff?
Lianmei’s accent and speech are great. I didnt know Detroit’s Cass Corridor had such a large Asian population though. It’s been years since I’ve lived in the area. Very neat new character, wow. It’s interesting to see her blame herself for Fang’s state of mind, and sad.
“Where do you find your inspiration for this stuff?”
Wow… where to start?
Aside from other works of fiction (comics, movies, books, TV), I would cite New Age / Occult / Metaphysical non-fiction as one of my sources of inspiration.
OMG, that is awesome that you have her speaking Singlish!
My friends in Singapore, with whom I communicated on a Singapore based website for adults who collect toys, tried to teach me Singlish liao.
I can’t really remember any of it except they say “Kekekeke” instead of “Hehehe” and “dun” instead of “don’t”. I got used to using the “kekekeke” so much that it became my norm :3 But, I don’t even remember the correct usage of liao and lah :S
This comic just keeps getting better and better!! I am looking forward to catching up- but I know I will be sad when I do because I will have to WAIT to see the next page. NUUUUUUUUU!!

Lah?
Wtf is a “lah?”

So. Fang tried to contact the Lady with his abilities, and in a freak accident his wife died? What does the saber represent I wonder. Guilt?

“Wtf is a “lah?””

For those of you who happen to recognize it… yeah, Lianmei is speaking Singlish.

‘Lah’ I suspect is because the lady is chinese or similar in origin. A common suffix. This is one entry on the word:

“What made you decide to make her Singaporean?”
I always wanted to see how Singlish would actually sound/read on a page.
Also, variety. To me, it’s more interesting to see characters from different backgrounds interact.
One of the things that made the new (well, later) X-Men better than the original X-Men.

Oh, and plain ol’ life experience of course.

If you can cite “plain ol’ life experience” for this comic, I am very, very afraid of you.
