And now, even though I could just shoot you now, let me tell you the fatal flaw in my master plan and leave you in this diabolical room of death unsupervised while I make ridiculous demands of the world leaders. I’ll never see you again, so what difference does it make if I tell you the secret of escaping my island fortress? And I guess I’ll exhort my own abilities as a genius master criminal while I’m at it.
Bear in mind P.T. Shaw’s words to Fang on the very first page of this story:
“Perhaps you secretly hoped that, like the archetypal movie villain, I would buy you some time by going off on a lengthy rant about why I’m going to kill you, giving you an opportunity to escape from your seemingly hopeless plight…”
