@Marut: that's what my mother started teaching me when I was around eight years old. She firmly believes in that. She believes that each life is harder and harder because the more physical limitations you have, the more you have to rely on your faith and your ability to adapt (via learning, in one form or another).

It's like school. You start out in Kindergarten- basically just getting used to being in school... and work your way up to High School, where you have multiple subjects, homework and finals. Those who truly wish to "transcend" the norm go on to college/university, then to post-grad work, and then on to some sort of Doctorate. The further you want to go, the harder it gets.

I don't know if that fits in with your belief system or not- but that's what I've been taught outside of the Church (no, I'm not Catholic, but I am a Born Again Christian). I'm sort of on the fence about the whole subject- but I think that my Mom was on to something.

To be perfectly honest- I think that this existence is actual a sort of "prison sentence" in a Hell-like realm where we all (living humans) have a certain number of years to work off our bad behaviour before we can go to Heaven (so it's not so black & white as Life, then either Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory). That's why they say "Only the Good die young". They are only sentenced to a few years in this Hell; whilst others are trapped here for up to a century plus. (And stupid humans are looking for more and more ways to prolong life *shakes head*)
Yes, I am saying that we are living in Hell on Earth. That may go against the Bible- or maybe not.
Maybe when Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden of Eden, they were actually banished to a realm of Hell called Earth. Just a weird theory of mine. *shrug*

Still reading... I have 45 more minutes to continue until the husband-creature gets off work and demands my attention *rolls eyes*

Thanks for keeping this so entertaining!! ^_^

I can't say for all believe systems, but personally(and at least for a few others), this is my viewpoint on Reincarnation:

There is essentially a cycle, birth, life, death, afterlife, rebirth, rinse, repeat, etc.
Each life, however, is meant to teach you something
Eventually, you learn absolutely everything there is to learn, or at least all that is needed to be learned.
At that point, you ascend beyond the cycle to a new place inhabited only by those who have learned every lesson.
